Advisor to Lt Guv reviews status of winter stocks and preparations in Ladakh region

In Ladakh, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Umang Narula reviewed the status of winter stocks and preparations in Ladakh region last evening. Mr Narula asked the departments that stocks be sufficient atleast for ten months.<br />''<br />''As the long winter season is approaching,  Ladakh LG Adviser Umang Narula asked various departments to complete formalities to have clear requirements of stocks in Leh and Kàrgil districts.<br />''<br />''Considering the emerging situation in Ladakh the UT Administration is taking all necessary steps to keep stocks of all the essentials.<br />''<br />''Every year, Ladakh region depends on supplies be airlifted from outside to meet the demands of the region. Last winter, the UT has airlifted over 440 metric tonnes of various commodities.<br />''Considering the COVID Pandemic, it is estimated that over 50 thousands of additional population will remain in the region during the winters, compared to the last season.<br />''<br />''The meeting discussed stocking requirements of foodgrains, vegetables and the essential commodities. Mr Umang Narula advised the Deputy Commissioners to decentralize the stocks , especially to the snow-bound places to avoid inaccessibility in winters.<br />''<br />''Ladakh is procuring two helicopters for emergency services and disaster management. He asked the Oil Companies to draw a clear stocking plan for Air traffic fuel required in the UT region. Petrol, Diesel and kerosene stockings and distribution also discussed.<br />''<br />''Mr Umang Narula advised to expedite the procurement of cattle fodder, essential medical supplies, oxyzen cylenders in hospitals, early start of cold storage and survey of power grid performance and requirements in the winters.<br />''<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Yesterday in the High level meeting, UT Administration Secretaries Rigzin Samphel, Ravinder Singh, Saugat Biswas, IGP S.S. Khandare, Forest Conservator Preetpal Singh, Leh DC Sachin Kumar and Baseer Ul Haq Chodhary from Kàrgil along with senior officials from various departments have participated in the meeting.</span><br />
