Adopt measures to cope with quake disaster:NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has asked Delhi Government to adopt a slew of measures including assessment of seismic strength of important national buildings to cope with disasters especially earthquake. The NDMA on Thursday carried out a review meeting to check the preparedness of various agencies in the event of a disaster like earthquake. The meeting was chaired by M Shashidhar Reddy, Vice Chairman, NDMA and attended by senior officials of Government including Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Delhi Fire Services and Public Works Department among others. Officials apprised the NDMA about various steps like modernisation of fire and emergency service system and others.
