The GST Committee on Exports today deliberated on the issues faced by the industry under the new Indirect Tax regime in its meeting held in New Delhi. Revenue Secretary Dr Hasmukh Adhia headed panel held discussions with representatives from export promotion associations on the difficulties being faced by the exporters. Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia also attended the meet. <br/><br/>This was the first meeting ever since the constitution of the panel last Tuesday by the GST Council. The Council, chaired by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and comprising state counterparts, had in its last meeting on 9th of this month decided to set up a committee under Dr Adhia to look into the issues faced by the export sector. The panel is mandated to recommend to the GST Council a suitable strategy for helping the export sector in the post-GST set-up.
