India has asked Nepal to address the causes of political unrest, credibly and effectively. Making a statement on a Calling Attention Motion on the situation in Nepal and the state of Indo-Nepal Relations in the Rajya Sabha today, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj that New Delhi has deepest interest in a peaceful, united and stable Nepal. <br/><br/>She said India has stood for a peaceful conclusion to Nepal's on-going transition after decades of instability and violence. She said India will continue to encourage all sides to come to a solution sooner than later. <br/><br/>The newly adopted Constitution in Nepal is perceived by large sections of its population has non-inclusive and diluting their representation already available since 2007. She said with 1750 kilometre long open border, India is directly affected by developments in the Terai region. <br/><br/>Mrs Swaraj referred to yesterday's meeting with the visiting Napalese Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa. She said Mr Thapa briefed her that there has been progress in the dialogue on the contentious issues with the agitating Madhesis. She urged the House to consider sending an all-party delegation to Khatmandu to take stock of the situation.
