The Lieutenant governor of Delhi, Najeeb Jung has asked the Power Department and Delhi Jal Board, DJB, to set up 24×7 control rooms to fast-track redressal of complaints. He visited the Secretariat yesterday. Mr. Najeeb Jung held meetings with the Secretaries and Heads of Departments to review their performance. He laid special emphasis on water and power since he had received several complaints for both sectors. Sources said that in his meeting with the CEO of DJB, the LG was informed that DJB is planning to replace 121 tankers in a bid to reduce spillage of water during transportation. The Power Secretary informed Jung that the department is developing a mechanism to address complaints which discoms have failed to handle. He also asked for police or CISF assistance to curb theft and conduct raids. The Secretary reportedly asked for 100 personnel to be made available for this.
