The Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Manohar Agnani addressed the communication officers of Press Information Bureau, Bureau of Outreach, AIR and Doordarshan today via a webinar on the roll out arrangement of COVID-19 vaccine in the country. He emphasised the need for a comprehensive communication management plan for Adverse Event Following Immunisation. Mr. Agnani informed that due to limited availability of vaccine, it has been decided to administer the vaccine to the high risk groups first.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''Around one crore health care workers, two crore frontline workers will be given the vaccine initially. Thereafter, around 27 crore people above the age of 50 and those with co-morbidity will be administered the vaccine. The priority list of persons to receive the vaccination on priority is already registered with Co-Win software as per the recommendation of National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration, NEGVAC. The steering committees, task forces and control rooms set up at national, state and block levels will monitor and guide the entire vaccination programme. The National Media Rapid Response Cell, State Communication Response Room will respond to media on Adverse Event Following Immunisation.<br />''&nbsp;<br />''<span style="color: #222222;">Mr. Agnani said, any untoward incidents following immunisation will be closely monitored by AEFI management Centres across the country. He explained that following immunisation a few cases of developing fever, seizure, pain, swelling could occur and the AEFI management Centres will be ready to address them.</span><br />
