Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that the Asian Development Bank should give priority to regional connectivity projects which will help the entire region. Mr Modi said this to ADB President Takehiko Nakao, who called on him yesterday. Mr Modi asked the ADB to think differently so that it can make an impact. The Prime Minister urged the ADB to pick up large projects and demonstrate breakthroughs, which then can be rapidly copied. He said that the Foreign Direct Investment is a focus area which the government is committed to. Mr Nakao said, the ADB is keen on partnering in the East Coast Industrial Corridor and supporting Smart Cities. He also said that the ADB is committed to support infrastructure development in India, and will provide 7 to 9 billion dollar loan to the country over the next three years.
