The Maharashtra cabinet has recommended suspension of State Chief Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari to the Governor. The Chief Minister Mr. Prithviraj Chavan informed this at a press conference in Mumbai.Tiwari has been accused of giving illegal permission to the Adarsh society, where a number of bureaucrats and ministers own flats, when he was chief secretary of urban development department. Tiwari’s son Omkar Tiwari also has a flat in Adarsh society.Clarifying the decision Mr.Chavan said that Tiwari is retired IAS officer and his appointment as Chief Information Commissioner was a political decision.Therefore according to law, State government recommended his suspension to Governor, the state government has already constituted a two-member judicial panel to probe the irregularities in the Adarsh scam.
