Adarsh Scam:CBI files charge sheet against all 14 accused

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister is among 13 accused charge sheeted in the Adarsh Housing Society scam. CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra told AIR News that the investigating agency has filed the charge sheet in the Mumbai High Court.
Earlier in the day, the court allowed the Ministry of Defence to intervene in the matter. It asked Ministry of Defence to respond within two weeks to the Maharashtra government’s stand that CBI cannot probe Adarsh scam.
Maharashtra Government on Tuesday filed an affidavit in the Bombay High Court saying that there was no need of CBI investigation in the Adarsh Housing Society scam. The affidavit said that the CBI had no jurisdiction over the case as the judicial commission appointed by Maharashtra government has already submitted a report stating that the land where the Adarsh building stands belongs to the state government and not the Defence Ministry. It further said that as the land belongs to the state, the power of investigation lies with the state police.
