Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmokh reappeared before the Adarsh probe commission in Mumbai today. In his deposition, Deshmukh said that he had signed the letter of intent for land allotment issued to Adarsh society but he does not remember the date on which he signed it. He said that besides his signatures the letter of intent also had signatures of the then Revenue Minister Ashok Chavan and the then Finance Minister Jayant Patil. On giving approval to 40% allotment of flats to civilian in Adrash society, Deshmukh said that he had received the application and he had forwarded the file to the revenue department. He said that the concerned ministry did not get back to him on this issue after that. Vilasrao Deshmukh was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from November 1999 to January 2003 and from November 2004 to December 2008, when key clearance were given tot he Adarsh housing society. He was also the urban development department (UDD) minister during this period.
