Adarsh scam: Phatak, Tiwari remanded to police custody till 12 April

In Maharashtra, Jairaj Phatak and Ramanand Tiwari, who were arrested for their involvement in the Adarsh Society scam, they were remanded to police custody till 12th of this month.Phatak and Tiwari were arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation yesterday after they were detained for questioning by the investigating agency.As municipal commissioner in 2010, Phatak is alleged to have allowed the height of this building in Colaba to be raised beyond 100 metres without the approval of the High-Rise Committee of the municipal body. The agency has alleged that Phatak received a flat in the Adarsh Society building in the name of his son.Meanwhile, Retired Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, as former urban development secretary allegedly allotted land and building rights to the Adarsh Society.
