Adarsh scam: Maharashtra Info Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari submits leave application

Maharashtra Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, whose son owns a flat in the controversial Adarsh Housing Society in South Mumbai, has submitted his leave application to the Governor K Sankaranarayanan. Speaking to AIR, PRO officials to the Governor said that the Governor is yet to take a decision on Tiwari’s leave application. When the Adarsh file was processed, Tiwari was urban development secretary. The opposition has been demanding for Tiwari’s ouster since his name cropped up in adarsh scam. However, he has been refusing to step down as the Information Commissioner all this while. On January 3, another former bureaucrat Subhash Lalla, resigned as member of the State Human Rights Commission in the backdrop of his alleged link in the scam.
