Adarsh scam: Ex-Navy captain settled in New Zealand given Maharashtra domicile for flat

The judicial panel probing Adarsh housing society scam has been told that a retired Navy Captain, who became citizen of New Zealand in 2007, was issued a Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra in 2010 and allotted a flat in the Housing society.

Retired Navy Captain Praveen Kumar yesterday revealed before the panel that he did not disclose the fact about his New Zealand citizenship because he was told to do so by the Society’s chief secretary R.C. Thakur, one of the accused in this case.

Kumar was shifted to New Zealand in 2003 and became a citizen of that country four years later. He retired from the Indian Navy in 1996. He was allotted a two BHK flat in Adarsh.
