Wanchoo besides Congress MLC Kaniah Lal Gidwani and one of the promoters of the society R C Thakur have been named as the main accused. The investigating agency registered the case today after the Bombay High Court criticised the CBI last week for its tardy probe in the case. The housing society, built on prime defence land, was constructed by allegedly violating various rules and regulations. The building was originally meant to be a six-storey structure to house Kargil war heroes and their kin but was later extended to 31 floors. The CBI had begun probe in the case after receiving a letter from the Ministry of Defence.
