The Central Bureau of investigation probing the Adarsh society Scam in Mumbai is continuing with its raids at houses of some of the officials and bureaucrats named in the FIR. This evening, the CBI raided the house of suspended Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiwari in Mumbai. Tiwari was secretary in the urban development ministry during the period when the Adarsh building got its approval from the government. Tiwari’s son also owns a flat in the society. One of the CBI officials confirmed the raid but refused to divulge any details. He said the CBI is conducting raids as part of their investigations and that it would continue for the time being.Meanwhile, the CBI has completed searches at the residence of Congress leader K L Gidwani, who is also the co-promoter of Adarsh Society. Speaking to the media Mr. Gidwani said that he has co-operated during the raid and has provided with all the necessary documents demanded by the officials. CBI also today conducted raids across at the premises of retired Major General MM Wanchoo and the promoter of the society RC Thakur. The raids were carried across their residents in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Patna. Searches were also conducted at the Adarsh Housing Society building’s office in Mumbai.The CBI yesterday filed an FIR in the case. The developments came after the Bombay High Court last week asked the CBI to complete its probe into the Adarsh housing society scam in two weeks. The 31-storey Adarsh Housing Society, originally meant for Kargil war heroes, landed in controversy after media reports said that several politicians, bureaucrats and defence personnel owned flats there. Earlier this month, the Ministry of Environment and Forests ordered the demolition of the Adarsh building within three months, saying that the scandal-hit project in Colaba was unauthorised and violated the rules relating of the Coastal Regulations Zone (CRZ) Notification, 1991.
