The CBI has so far arrested 7 people in connection the Adarsh Society scam before the crucial hearing of this case in the Bombay High Court, which is scheduled to be held today.
The seven accused include chief promoter of Adarsh Society R C Thakur, retired defence estates officer and retired Brigadier M M Wanchoo, former deputy secretary of Maharashtra’s urban development department, P V Deshmukh, Former Congress MLC Kanhiya Lal Gidwani, retired Major General A R Kumar, retired Major General T K Kaul and IAS officer Pradeep Vyas.
Thakur, Wanchoo and Deshmukh were yesterday produced before special CBI judge M V Kulkarni who remanded them to CBI custody till March 31st. Gidwani, Kumar, Kaul and Vyas will be produced before the CBI court today.
The arrests were made after the Bombay High Court asked the CBI why they had not been taking action against those who were allegedly involved in the case.
