The CBI has arrested four people today in connection with its investigation in the Adarsh society Scam in Mumbai.
The four people are chief promoter of Adarsh Society R C Thakur, retired defence estates officer and retired Brigadier M M Wanchoo, former deputy secretary of the urban development department P V Deshmukh and former MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani. Gidwani was already in judicial custody in another case, but was granted bail by the Sessions court today.
The arrests came after the Bombay High Court last week rapped the CBI asking why no prominent names have been arrested so far.
The CBI had registered FIR against 14 people in this case, however, the chargesheet has not yet been filed.
All those arrested will be produced before the court where the agency is likely to seek their remand.
