Two more accused in the Adarsh Housing Society Scam, former Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Jairaj Phatak and former state chief information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari, were granted bail by a special CBI court in Mumbai today. The two accused had approached the court on Monday, saying the CBI has not filed the charge sheet even 60 days after their arrest.
Earlier on May 29, the special court granted bail to seven of the other accused in the case including former defence officials – AR Kumar, MM Wanchu, RC Thakur and TK Kaul, former senior IAS officers – PV Deshmukh and Pradeep Vyas and former Congress MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani, after they filed bail applications on the same ground.
All the accused have been charged with criminal conspiracy under IPC and various sections under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Act.
