The Maharashtra Governor, Mr. K Shankarnarayan has suspended State Information Commissioner Ramanand Tiw ari with immediate effect. Speaking to AIR, Raj Bhavan sources said, the order comes in the wake of Tiwary's alleged misconduct in the Adarsh Society scam. The Maharashtra government had earlier recommended Mr. Tiwari’s suspension to the Governor. Mr. Tiwari during his tenure as Urban Development Secretary had given major clearances to the Adarsh society. His son was later allotted a flat in the society. Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister, Mr. Prithviraj Chavan had asked Mr. Tiwari to quit but he had refused even after Mr. Subhash Lalla, another IAS officer, a beneficiary of the Adarsh scam put in his papers.
