Adarsh housing scam inquiry commission has extended the time given to 3 former chief ministers of Maharashtra to file their affidavit till May 26. Former CMs Vilasrao Deshmukh, Sushil Kumar Shinde and Ashok Chavan, have been summoned as witnesses and were asked to file affidavit till May 23 by the Adarsh Inquiry Commission. Maharashtra’s water resources minister Sunil Tatkare was also been asked to file his affidavit on May 23 before the panel. Tatkare has also granted the extension to file affidavit till Thursday. Speaking to media persons in Mumbai Deepen Merchant, counsel for the commission said that considering the increase in the number of petitioners the commission has granted the extension of three days to these four leaders. The clearances to the controversial 31-storey tower in Colaba were given between the years 2000 and 2010, during the tenure of three chief ministers – Sushilkumar Shinde, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Ashok Chavan. Earlier on Friday, Former Urban Development Department UDD secretary and suspended state information commissioner Ramanand Tiwari who filed his affidavit blamed Deshmukh for approving the all proposals pertaining to the Adarsh housing Society. In his affidavit filed before the two-member inquiry commission Tiwari stated that all the decisions pertaining to Adarsh had the approval of the minister concerned.
