Film and television actor Ronit Roy was arrested for rash and negligent driving on Thursday after he was involved in an accident in suburban Amboli in Mumbai.

The 42-year-old actor was driving his Mercedes when he rammed into a WagonR with four occupants at around 6.45am on Thursday morning on Linking Road in suburban Amboli. H. Vhatkar, senior inspector at Amboli police station informed that a 56-year-old woman had sustained severe injuries in the incident following which the actor himself took her and three others to a nearby hospital.

Vhatkar said Ronit was later arrested under IPC sections 279 for rash driving or riding on a public way, 338 for causing grievous hurt by act of endangering life or personal safety of others. Police are awaiting medical reports to confirm if the actor was drunk at the time of the mishap.
