The southwest monsoon is active over Himachal Pradesh. Heavy rainfall has occurred at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh. Other parts of North India, including, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, and Delhi NCR also received widespread rainfall. Met department has attributed this to a western disturbance, lying over Jammu and Kashmir and to a cyclonic circulation marked over Punjab and North Rajasthan.<br/><br/>AIR correspondent reports, rains lashed many places in Punjab and Haryana causing mercury to dip by a few notches. Chandigarh continued to receive rains for the third consecutive day today. Following a relatively dry week, Delhi received the highest rainfall of the month, as it poured intensely in the morning hours, leading to water logging and a drop in the temperature. Safdarjung observatory recorded 41.2 mm rainfall in the national capital. Met department has forecast rains in the entire region for the next couple of days. Isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand could receive very heavy rain during this period.
