Government has initiated a number of measures to identify persons whose names were provided by French banking authorities in the past, having accounts in Swiss banks.Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha today, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said action for evading tax and criminal proceedings has been taken against persons, who have been identified. He said, as per the understanding with the French authorities, the names of those persons cannot be made public.The Finance Minister said the Special Investigation Team has also given documents about these people. Mr Jaitley said there is an agreement with the Swiss government since 2012, under which, the names of those having accounts can be known. However, it is not possible to get information about the people having accounts prior to the agreement. So, the government wants some modifications to the 2012 agreement.
