Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has warned that anti-social elements damaging public property will be dealt with firmly. He said none will be allowed to vitiate the atmosphere and threaten the common man.Chairing a high-level meeting in Srinagar today he also announced formation of three ministerial teams for Baramulla, Anantnag and Pulwama districts to work with the citizen groups for speedy restoration of peace in those areas. Appealing to all sections of the society to extend wholehearted cooperation in restoration of peace and normalcy in the Valley, the Chief Minister reiterated the commitment of his government to restore law and order and normalcy and fight the forces of disruption. Omar Abdullah said all measures will be taken to safeguard life and property of citizens.The teams for Baramulla, Anantnag and Pulwama will remain stationed at the district headquarters. They will monitor the day-to-day situation personally and initiate measures for return of peace. It was also decided at the meeting that security forces should be advised to exercise maximum restraint and those taking law into their hands dealt with sternly.The situation in Kashmir valley continues to be tense. One civilian died and more than a dozen injured during fresh protets in the valley today despite curfew being enforced strictly in all the ten districts. Police sources told AIR that the civilian was killed when protesters tried to attack a Rashtrya Rifles camp at Nadihal in Bandi pora district. The forces resorted to firing to ward of the attack.Three persons were injured at Kreeri and seven in Sopore, where protesters set a police camp and Railway Station on fire. In Pampore town of pulwama district, angry protesters torched the vehicle of Indian Airforce.AIR correspondent reports that with five more civilian deaths since yesterday the challenge of restoring normaly in the valley has become tough further.
