Achuthanandan questioned in land allotment case

In Kerala, CPI-M leader VS Achuthanandan was yesterday questioned by Vigilance officials probing the case relating to assigning of government land to his relative in alleged violation of rules in Kasaragod district during his tenure as Chief Minister.A vigilance police team recorded Achuthanandan's statementat his residence at Thiruvananthapuram after he had twice earlier refused to respond citing various reasons.He agreed to be questioned after the Vigilance decided to register a case even without Achuthanandan's statement.The case relates to allotment of 2.33 acre of government land to T K Soman, an ex-serviceman, with the right to sell the land in violation of rules. The then Revenue Minister K P Rajendran had earlier been questioned by the Vigilance in the case.
