Acharya Lokesh Muni of Delhi will be honoured with Communal Harmony Award 2010 in the individual category this year. The jury headed by Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari selected Muni for the award that carries a citation and two lakh rupees. 49 years old Muni is the chief functionary of Ahimsa Vishwa Bharati, a voluntary organisation that aims at promoting non-violence, peace, communal harmony and working against female foeticide and drug addiction. Acharya Lokesh Muni worked to deescalate Hindu Muslim strife after Jama Masjid Explosion in 2006-07 and tension between Dera Sacha Sauda and the Sikh community in 2007.
