Ace shooter Gagan Narang has been chosen for this years prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. According to an official release Arjuna, Dhyan Chand and Dronacharya Awards for the year have also been announced. The awardees include 19 Arjuna award winners, 5 Dronacharya and three Dhyan Chand. Prominent among the awardees are Rahul Banerjee-Archery, Ms. Jwala Gutta-Badminton, Zaheer Khan-Cricket, Devender Kumar Rathore-Gymnastics, and Sushil Kohli -Swimming.Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award is given to only one sportsperson in a year while Arjuna award is given to not more than 15 sportspersons. But this year as a special case, 19 persons have been selected for Arjuna awards. Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awardee will receive a cash prize of 7.5 lakh rupees. Arjuna, Dronacharya and Dhyan Chand awardees are given cash prize of 5 lakh rupees each besides citation and a plaque.
