Maharashtra Transport Minister and guardian minister of Jalgaon Gulabrao Deokar has resigned from his posts. A member of the Nationalist Congress Party, Deokar today forwarded his resignation to Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.Deokar is facing charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and corruption in the Jalgaon Housing Scam, in which about 11,000 low cost houses were promised to citizens but the project never materialised.Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court stayed a Bombay High Court order which had cancelled the bail granted to Deokar. The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court had cancelled his bail today following apprehension that he would tamper with the evidence and interfere with the further investigation.
