The 25-year-old youth allegedly involved in the rape of the five-year-old girl in the national capital has been given transit remand to Delhi police till April 23 by a Chief Judicial Magistrate court of Muzaffarpur.
He was arrested from his in-laws' village Chiknota in Muzaffarpur district early this morning by a team from Delhi with the help of local police.
Police sources said, the accused was traced after tracking his mobile phone location. He is now being brought to Delhi via Patna.
Doctors attending to the victim at the AIIMS said the girl's condition was stable. She, said to be undernourished and weighs 20 kg, was shifted to AIIMS from Swami Dayanand Hospital for treatment.
She underwent a surgery at the Swami Dayanand hospital for removing foreign objects from her body.
The President has called for urgent steps to bring the perpetrators of the Delhi rape incident to immediate justice.
Expressing shock and deep anguish at the sexual assault and rape of the five-year-old child, President Pranab Mukherjee also called upon concerned authorities to ensure the best possible medical attention for her.
Mr Mukherjee said as a society, people must introspect at the erosion of values and the repeated failure to ensure the security of the women and children.
Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath has said her Ministry will extend all possible help to the victim and her family.
She said the government is sensitizing police to spread awareness among people on various laws and the respective punishments.
Information and Broadcasting Minister has termed the incident as heartbreaking and condemnable.
