A key accused in the kidnap and murder of two school children in Coimbatore recently was shot dead in an alleged encounter on the city outskirts on Tuesday morning. Police said, the accused, was being taken to nearby Pollachi for interrogation in a van when he suddenly snatched a revolver of the escort policeman and fired one round at him. However, another escort pounced upon him and fired killing the accused on the spot.
