ACB arrests Goa CM's relative in bribe case

After the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ABC) of Goa arrested a relative of Goa Chief Minister, the Chief Minister Mr Laxmikant Parsekar today asked the Chief Secretary to instruct the Industry Development Corporation (IDC) to immediately place the concerned officials under suspension and initiate disciplinary proceedings.

The Chief Minister's relative working at the state Government operated Goa Industrial Development Corporation, was arrested by ACB on Tuesday while accepting a bribe in order to facilitate the allotment of a plot to set up a project at the Industrial Estate in North Goa.

Talking to Media persons in Panaji, Mr Parsekar stated that some elements were trying to highlight the relation of one of the arrested officers with him and draw comparisons to other ongoing investigations, which was inappropriate. He went on to state that though he does not deny the officer being a relative, he would ensure that the law will take its own course as in all other matters.
