Abu Dhabi 1st Test: England Captain Cook leads fightback against Pakistan

In the first cricket Test against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi, England captain Alastair Cook has dished out a resolute century to lead his team's remarkable fightback. Replying to Pakistan's mammoth first innings score of 523 for 8 declared, England were 290 for three at close on the third day on a flat Sheik Zayed Stadium pitch. At stumps, Cook was unbeaten on 168, his 28th hundred, and also his fifth against Pakistan. Joe Root, the other batsman at the crease, was on Three. England had begun the day at their overnight 56 for no loss with Cook on 39 and Moeen Ali on 15. The batsmen out today were:- Moeen Ali for 35, Ian Bell 63 and nightwatchman Mark Wood for 4.The scores so far:-Pakistan – First Innings – 523 for 8 declared.England – First innings – 290 for 3. The remaining two Tests will be played in Dubai (October 22 to 26) and Sharjah (November 1 to 5).
