In West Bengal, about 84 per cent polling has been recorded in the first phase of election in 54 Assembly constituencies. Electioneering in the second phase of elections is gradually gaining momentum. AIR North Bengal correspondent reports that the most of the polling parties with polling material have returned safely to their respective headquarters on Monday night after peaceful first phase polling. The 16 polling parties, deployed to man the booths in far flung and set-up at 12 thousand feet high Sirikhola and Dara Gaon in Darjeeling district are expected to reach by this evening.
