According to Surat Municipal Commissioner Banchhanidhi Pani, the new restrictions have been imposed following the emergence of a large number of Covid-19 cases among the diamond workers. Moreover, diamond trading hubs in Mahidharpura, Mini Bazar and Choksi Bazar will also remain closed on all Saturdays and Sundays till the situation improves. Authorities have also asked all diamond polishing units to maintain proper ventilation in their premises for the workers. Surat Municipal Corporation and Diamond Association have set up the joint teams to monitor the strict implementation of new guidelines.</span><br />
