Abhishek Verma eyes medal in 10-Metre Air Pistol event at Tokyo Olympics

With just a few days remaining for the start of the Tokyo Olympics, All India Radio brings a special series on India's medal prospects at the sporting extravaganza.
 
Today we will talk about India's hope in the 10-Metre Air Pistol event, Abhishek Verma.
 
Abhishek Verma is one of the 15 shooters in the Indian Shooting contingent to Tokyo.
 
Abhishek, who is a software engineer by profession and is currently pursuing law, took up the sport as a hobby and is now representing India at the greatest sporting spectacle.
 
Abhishek's first medal in the 10-metre Air Pistol at the international stage was a Bronze medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
 
In 2019, with gold medals in the Rio and Beijing world Cup, Abhishek shot to Number one position in the World.
 
Abhishek took to shooting at the age of 26.
 
Abhishek made a record score of 569 in the 2016 University Games after which he decided he would pursue shooting with more dedication.
 
Abhishek talks about his preparation for the Tokyo Olympics and the support that the government has provided.
