Abhishek Manu Singhvi steps down as Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee

Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member Abhishek Manu Singhvi has stepped down from the post of the Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law, Justice, Personnel and Grievances. In a statement issued to the media, Mr. Singhvi said, he has decided to resign to prevent even the slightest possible Parliamentary disruption regarding the purported CDs being circulated about him.

Mr. Singhvi also said, he is a disciplined party soldier and do not think it fit to subject the party to any inconvenience on this account. He categorically stated that canards and base allegations are being spread about alleged inappropriate conversation in the CD.

Congress General Secretary and Media Incharge, Janardhan Diwedi has confirmed that Abhishek Manu Singhvi has resigned from the Chairmanship of the Parliamentary Standing Committee and has also decided to stay away from Party briefings.
