India bagged a Gold, Silver and a Bronze on the second day of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Friday, taking its overall tally to 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze.In the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, India bagged a Gold, a Silver and a Bronze on the second day of events Friday. Olympic Gold medalist Abhinav Bindra gave India it's third Gold of the Games and signed off his Commonwealth Games career with an exceptional performance. He shot a total of 205.3 points in the Men's 10 metre Air Rifle event to finish at the top, ahead of Bangladesh's Abdullah Baki. The other Indian in the event, Ravi Kumar missed out on the podium by a whisker and came fourth. The Silver medal came in the Women's 10 metre Air Pistol event through world number 15 Malaika Goel who shot a total of 197.1 points. Former World Number one Heena Sidhu had a disappointing outing. With a total of just 95.8 points, she finished at the 7th spot, even after finishing at the top in the Qualifying. Gold went to Singapore's Shun Xie Teo.Santoshi Matsa clinched the Bronze for India in Weightlifting in the Women's 53kg division. She lifted a total of 188 kgs. It was India's 5th medal in Weightlifting. Other Indian in the Women's 53kg category, Swati Singh finished fourth. In the Men's 62kg section, Rustam Sarang came seventh.With Friday's haul, India is currently fifth in the Medal tally with 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze. England is at the top, followed by Australia at second, Scotland at third, and Canada at the fourth spot.In Boxing, Shiva Thapa, Mandeep Jangra, Sumit Sangwan and Dinesh Kumar advanced to the pre-quarterfinals.Judo, in which India got 3 medals on the opening day, could not bag any medal Friday.Squash saw Saurav Ghosal, Dipika Pallikal and Anaka Alankamony cruising in the Singles quarterfinals.The Indian Men's and Women's Table Tennis teams progressed to the quarterfinals. They will for the semi-final berths today.In Badminton, the Indian Mixed team won it's third and final preliminary round game against Kenya, 5-0.The Indian Men's Hockey team won it's opening preliminary round match defeating Wales, 3-1. They will play their second match today against Scotland. All India Radio will broadcast live commentary on the match from 8.25 PM onwards. It can be heard on the FM Gold Network, Rajdhani and the National Channel.
