Reports just received says, the Congress candidate Mr. Abhijeet Mukherjee has won the Jangipur Parliamentary seat. He defeated his nearest CPI rival by 2536 votes.

The bye-election was necessitated after Mr. Pranab Mukherjee got elected as President of India.
