Indian Grandmaster and former world junior champion Abhijeet Gupta has lost to Romain Edouard of France in the fifth round of Dubai International Open chess tournament. Romain Edouard clinched the number one position with 4.5 points while Abhijeet with 4 points has slipped to a joint second position with five other players including top seed Anton Korobov of Ukraine. Four more rounds are left in the 50,000 dollar tournament. M R Lalith Babu was held to a draw by Ashwin Jayaram while Sahaj Grover was defeated by the Swiss Grandmaster Sebastian Bogner.
