Former President Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam today announced that he will not contest the Presidential poll against UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee.
Making a formal announcement, Dr. Kalam said, he had taken the decision after considering the matter in totality and the present political situation. He said TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee and some other political parties wanted him to be their candidate. Many, many citizens had also expressed the same wish.Dr Kalam made it clear that he never aspired to serve another term or shown interest in contesting the elections.
