Abducted Collector in safe condition in Chhattisgarh

In Chhattisgarh, the abducted Sukma district Collector Mr. Alex Paul Menon is in safe condition. This was disclosed by Mr. Manish Kunjam, a former MLA and the President of the All India Adivasi Mahasabha to media persons in Sukma a shortwhile ago.

Reaching Sukma after twodays, after delivering the medicines for Mr. Paul in Naxal captivity in an undisclosed place, he told the media that Mr. Paul’s health is alright.

Talking to the press persons Mr. Manish Kunjam expressed the hope that Mr. Paul might be released since talks are being held between the mediators of both sides. Later he met Mrs. Asha Menon, the wife of the Mr. Menon in Sukma.

Meanwhile, one of the mediators of the Maoists Mr. B.D.Sharma, a former collector of Bastar arrived in Raipur this morning. The other mediator Prof. Hargopal is expected in Raipur later today.

The government interlocutors Mrs. Nirmala Buch and Mr. S.K. Mishra, both retired chief secretaries of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh respectively, are already in Raipur.

They had a meeting last night, with the cabinet sub-committee formed to look into all aspects for the safe release of the abducted collector.
