The Allahabad High Court today rejected the bail applications of dentist couple Dr Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, who have been awarded life sentence by a Ghaziabad based CBI special court for the murder of their teenage daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj.

A Division Bench of the court said that in view of the gravity of offence, nature and the manner in which the crime has been committed, bail application couldn’t be accepted.

The court, however, ordered that hearing on the appeals filed by the couple against the CBI court order dated November 26, last year wherein they had been convicted and awarded life sentence, be expedited. The court has fixed May 28 as the next date of hearing in the matter.

AIR Allahabad correspondent reports that 14 year old Aarushi was found murdered inside the Talwars' residence in NOIDA in May, 2008, while the body of domestic help Hemraj was recovered from the terrace a day later. The CBI had investigated the sensational double murder case.
