AAP urges EC to stop govt from inking contract with Essar; cites poll code

Aam Aadmi Party has urged the Eelction Commission to prevent government from signing a contract with Essar Group. In a letter to the Commission, the party today said, if the decision is taken, it will violate the model code of conduct as election is in progress.Yesterday, it had alleged that Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Veerapa Moily is trying to unduly favour the group by awarding it an unfinished contract of an oil field in Mumbai. The party also requested the poll body to allow it to use loudspeakers and posters on vehicles for campaigning in Varanasi. It said, the permission should be given as it does not have adequate funds to display big hoardings or publish advertisements in major dailies.
