AAP sting video: BJP issues show cause notice to Sher Singh Dagar

BJP today issued a show-cause notice to its leader Sher Singh Dagar, who was allegedly shown offering money to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Dinesh Mohania in a sting video, to buy support for BJP to form a government in Delhi. Talking to reporters, Delhi BJP Chief Satish Updhayay said that the party has sought explanation from Dagar over the sting. He, however, denied that party is taking any action against Dagar right now saying, the incident is not a setback for the BJP. Updhayay also questioned why AAP is not saying anything about earlier sting operations against it leaders.

Earlier, Sher Singh Dagar rubbished the charges of poaching against him by AAP. He told media in New Delhi that the MLA had been coming to him for the last one and half month and expressed desire to join the BJP. Dagar said, he had only told the AAP MLA that he will discuss the matter with BJP leadership but never offered any money to him. Terming the sting as fabricated, he said, if the charges are proved, he will quit active politics. The BJP leader also threatened to file a defamation case against Aam Aadmi Party leaders.
During a press conference earlier in the day, AAP released a sting tape, which showed Sher Singh Dagar allegedly offering 4 crore rupees to AAP legislator to buy support for BJP.

Party Convenor Arvind Kejriwal alleged that the sting exposed the BJP as it is claiming that it will not indulge in horse trading. He also said his party will lodge FIRs with the police and also approach the Election Commission for action against poaching attempts.
Kejriwal said, AAP will also submit the sting video to the Supreme Court which is scheduled to hear Delhi Assembly case tomorrow.

AIR correspondent reports that BJP seems to be on back foot and by seeking explanation from Dagar it has distanced itself from him. Some party MLAs have demanded action against Dagar alleging that he was colluding with the AAP MLA.
