The Aam Aadmi Party today announced that it will form a government in Delhi. The formal announcement was made by the party leader Arvind Kejriwal after the party's Political Affairs committee meeting held this morning at Ghaziabad.
Aam Aadmi Leader Manish Sisodia also announced that Arvind Kejriwal has been chosen by the party to be the Chief Minister of Delhi.
Mr. Kejriwal is to meet Delhi Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung at 12.30 PM today and to inform him about his party's decision and to stake claim for forming a government in New Delhi.
Mr. Kejriwal said, a majority of the people had favoured government formation by the Aam Aadmi party in the referendum held over the weekend seeking response from the public through SMS, Interactive Voice Response System, emails and public meetings conducted in the national capital.
The Congress Party has extended unconditional outside support to the AAP to form a government in Delhi. The BJP, which emerged as the single largest party with 31 seats in the 70 member Assembly, had declined the Lt Governor's offer to form a government in absence of a clear majority.
The Lt. Governor had then invited AAP, the second largest party, which bagged 28 seats to form the government following which Aaam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal had sought a referendum seeking public opinion.
