AAP promises strong Jan Lok Pal; reduced age for contesting elections, de-centralisation of power & citizen's charter in its manifesto for LS polls

Reducing the age of candidates to contest Lok Sabha and Assembly elections to 21 years from 25 , a strong Jan Lokpal Bill, education and health for all are some of the promises and highlights of election manifesto of Aam Aadmi Party-AAP released today. Unveiling the manifesto in New Delhi, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal said that decentralization of power, citizen's charter to ensure time-bound delivery of services and providing good governance will be some other priority areas for the party. Emphasising on judicial accountability, he promised to double the number of judges in courts across the country in the next five years. He said, his party will install CCTV cameras in police stations and there would be cameras in interrogation rooms as well. Kejriwal said , his party has proposed to make separate investigative and law and order wings in police. The AAP leader also announced that the four-year undergraduate programme in Delhi University will be withdrawn as demanded by a section of students and teachers.

Kejriwal also said that his party will ensure the return of black money stashed in foreign banks to India and will also ensure time bound and stringent action against those found guilty of stashing black money. On national security, he said that his party will work towards long term solution including effective decentralization and devolution of power and creation of a better equipped and trained security forces to meet the challenge relating to the internal security. On media policy, Kejriwal said that his party will explore the methods of enforcing public accountability and regulation on the media industry which are not coercive and which do not threaten the Constitutional guarantees provided under article 19 on freedom of expression.

Elaborating on its economic policy, Kejriwal said his party is not against industries or business, but against crony capitalism. On foreign policy, the AAP leader said that his party advocated friendly relations with all the countries, but has zero tolerance for cross border terrorism. The APP convener added that the party will not only work to reduce the foreign dependence in equipment, but also will try to bring transparency in procurement of defence equipment.
