In Assam, the dissident Congress MLAs are holding a crucial meeting in Guwahati to take a final call on their demand to remove Chief minister Tarun Gogoi from the post of Chief Minister. A section of party MLAs have threatened to meet the governor today, though no formal announcement has been made yet. The rebel group has claimed that they have the support of 40 MLAs.The Congress has 77 MLAs in the 126 members state Assembly.

Earlier,dissident MLAs had urged the party high command to remove Gogoi by Saturday last .
