Aam Admi Party-led city government is determined to table the Jan Lokpal Bill despite Lt Governor's advice to the Assembly speaker not to allow its introduction in the house. The LG office and Chief Minister seem to have come to a confrontation mode with differing opinion on the issue. The LG's contention that proper procedure has not been followed to table the bill is not accepted by the Arvind Kejriwal government.
Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia said that the city government will not compromise on the issue and table the bill in the Assembly today.
Earlier, Mr Kejriwal had threatened to quit if the proposed legislation is defeated.
In an unprecedented move, the Assembly yesterday passed a resolution curtailing certain powers of Speaker, MS Dhir relating to suspension of any unruly legislator.
Mr Kejriwal alleged that there was a match fixing between the BJP and the Congress to obstruct the proceedings of the House so that the Jan Lokpal Bill is not passed.
In another development, the Delhi Cabinet had cleared the Swaraj Bill, which intends to devolve power directly to the people to curb corruption at the local level.
