In Uttar Pradesh, Aam Aadmi Party leader Somnath Bharti and some other party workers were attacked at Varanasi last night. Police said Mr Bharti has not received any injury.

He was attacked during a TV show at Assi Ghat area under Bhelupur police station. About half a dozen AAP workers were injured in the scuffle.

Trouble started when AAP workers present in the show raised some slogans against BJP. BJP workers allegedly attacked the AAP workers during the show.

Somnath Bharti tried to save his party workers but he was targeted by the attackers. When he tried to leave the venue and rushed towards his car, a stone was pelted on him and his car was vandalised.

The AAP leader has not filed any FIR against anyone. Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has said that his party has forgiven the attackers.
