Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party government today won the trust vote in the 70 member Delhi Assembly when its confidence motion sailed through easily with the backing of the members of Congress, JD(U) and an independent.
28 MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party-AAP along with seven of Congress, a lone JD(U)member and an independent stood in support of the government.
While 31 members of BJP and one member of its ally Akali Dal stood against it.
Earlier replying to a debate on the motion of confidence which was moved by the PWD minister Manish Sisodia in the House, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his government will take stringent action against anyone corrupt whether in the previous Congress government, MCDs controlled by the BJP and his government.
He said, he is not seeking support of the members of the House for his party or the government but for those issues which are being faced by the people of Delhi.
Earlier, participating in the debate, BJP MLA and Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that his party will not support the AAP as it has formed the government with the support of Congress.
He said, AAP had stated that it will neither take support from Congress and BJP nor extend support to them. He alleged, the the party has joined hand with the Congress which is involved in corruption cases.
Congress MLA Arvinder Singh Lovely said that his party will continue extending its support to the AAP till it works in the interest of the people.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said passage of the Jan Lokpal bill is the most important issue on the agenda of his government.
